Make A Smile Citrus Heights Pediatric Dentistry
Providing you and your kids with superb and friendly dental care is our mission at Make a Smile in Citrus Heights, California. Our pediatric dentistry is passionate about teaching each of our patients about the prevention of dental disease by introducing them to our fun and interactive office environment designed just for kids. Our dentist staff will ensure that your children receive high-quality dental care in a nurturing environment.
We guarantee that your family will love our interactive waiting room which has been designed with kids in mind! We also provide movies in treatment rooms, video games, and lots of toys to help keep them happy and feeling safe while they wait for their appointment! Each of our dental professionals go out of their way to work one on one with you and your kids, fully explaining diagnoses and providing you with a strong sense of confidence in your child’s treatment options. We do, however, encourage parents to join their children in treatment rooms if they wish to do so – just in case it would ease any anxiety coming from the patient.
Make a Smile Children’s Dental and Orthodontics office is welcoming to all cases: patients of a young age, kids who require an extra-gentle hand with behavioral management, and clients with special needs. Our office is always up to date with the newest dentistry technology, entertainment, and distraction techniques. Our focus goes way beyond caring for your teeth which is why we offer a variety of sedation services including in-office nitrous oxide, oral sedation, IV, and hospital dentistry.
HOW OLD SHOULD PATIENTS BE TO SEE A PEDIATRIC DENTIST?
Our dentistry recommends that pediatric dental care should begin when a child’s first tooth appears. This generally happens around the age of 6 months old. Children should have lost all of their “baby-teeth” by 12 or 13 years of age. Either way, many teen patients continue receiving services from pediatric dentists and orthodontists well into their teenage years.
READ ABOUT YOUR CHILD’S FIRST VISIT TO THE DENTIST
Our office is full of state-of-the-art orthodontics technology and is vastly different from the pediatric dentistry office you remember as a child. A positive outlook on dentistry starts with your child’s initial office visit and aids in successfully creating a life-long preventative plan for your kids and their smile. Your child’s first dental visit should be scheduled as soon as their first tooth erupts or before their first birthday. At your kids initial visit, you can expect the following at our office:
- A thorough review of your kids medical and dental history
- Helpful tips on keeping your child’s teeth clean and healthy after nursing or bottle-feeding to avoid decay.
- A guide on proper brushing techniques
- A comprehensive, non-invasive dental care exam to check soft tissue and
tooth eruption - A visit to the toy chest!
You may join your child during treatment at any time, however, we also welcome you to enjoy movies, toys, and video games with your other kids in our reception area. If you do plan on coming with your child during dental care services and treatment, try not to bring other children to that appointment, as space is limited in offices.
You should continue bringing in your child every 6 months following their first dental appointment or orthodontics appointment for evaluations, professional cleanings, and general oral health exams. Keeping up with regular dentist visits, as well as brushing and flossing will reduce the risk of tooth decay.
CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Our Make a Smile office strives to provide the best dental care services for your family. Some patients often present the dentist with unique challenges to pediatric dentistry, such as those with significant medical, physical, or mental disabilities. Our pediatric dentists and orthodontists have received training to be able to treat special needs patients in our practice, resulting in the formation of healthy lasting friendships with them and their caregivers. We assure a positive dental experience to all of our special needs patient.
Our efforts to significantly reduce the risk of preventative dental problems in our special needs patients is by teaching children and their caregivers preventative oral health techniques to protect their dental health. Thank you for the opportunity to be your children’s dental option – we can’t wait to see your magic smile! Our dental patients are our top priority and our Citrus Heights Make a Smile staff is here to help and to provide high-quality dental care.
