Providing you and your family with extraordinary friendly, healthy orthodontic dental care is always our mission at Make a Smile. Our team is passionate about teaching all our patients about the prevention of dental disease as they grow from a baby into an adult, which starts in our fun and interactive environment designed just for little ones of all ages. It’s fun to learn! Our superb staff at Make a Smile kids dental is always happy to see infants, children, and young adults stop in.
Your little one will surely love our fun waiting room, designed with kids in mind! The fun doesn’t end at our waiting room; we provide each patient movies in treatment rooms, video games, and lots of games and toys, sure to make them smile! The fun loving, friendly staff and dentists here at Make a Smile Dental go out of their way to work one on one with you and your kid, fully explaining diagnoses and providing you with a strong sense of confidence in your child’s treatment options. Serving as a continual source of comfort for patients and their guardians, we encourage parents to join their children in treatment rooms if they wish to do so.
Make a Smile Children’s Dental and Orthodontic is welcoming to all cases: patients of a young age, kids who require an extra-gentle hand with behavioral management, or clients with special needs. Our team is always up to date with the newest dentistry technology, entertainment, and special distraction techniques. We also offer a variety of sedation services, including in-office nitrous oxide, oral sedation, IV sedation, and hospital dentistry. Comfort is a top focus for us and it goes way beyond just caring for the teeth of you and your family.
How old should new children/patients be to go to a Kid’s Dentist?
Make a Smile recommends that pediatric dental care should begin as early as when your baby has their first teeth appear. This generally happens around the age of six months old. Children should have lost all of their “baby-teeth” by 12 or 13 years of age. Many patients in their teen years continue receiving pediatric dental services well into their teenage years.
Your Child’s First Dental Visit With Us
You and your family might come into a Make a Smile pediatric dentist office more anxious than your children on his or her first pediatric dentistry visit, so try your best to stay relaxed! Our office is full of state-of-the-art orthodontics technology and vastly different from the pediatric dentistry office you remember as a child. You will be happy to see how comfortable you and your children will feel in our office. A positive outlook on dentistry starts with your child’s initial office visit, and aids in successfully creating a life-long preventative plan for your child and their smile. Your child’s first dental visit should be scheduled as soon as their first tooth erupts or before their first birthday. At your kids initial visit, you can expect the following at our office:
- A thorough review of your child’s medical and dental history
- Helpful tips on keeping your child’s teeth clean and healthy after nursing or bottle-feeding to avoid decay.
- To learn proper brushing techniques
- A comprehensive, non-invasive exam to check soft tissue and
- A visit to the Make a Smile toy chest!
You may join your little one during treatment at any time; however, we also welcome you to enjoy movies, toys, and video games with your other kids in our reception area. If you do plan on joining their dental services and treatment, try not to bring other family members or children to that appointment, as space is limited in offices.
You should continue bringing in your kid every six months following their first dental appointment or orthodontics appointment for evaluations, professional cleanings, and general oral health. Keeping up with regular scheduled visits, as well as brushing and flossing will reduce the risk of tooth decay. Remember, our children learn from us, so having the family set good brushing habits is important.
